Dr. Kaster treats psychiatric conditions of the elderly including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, Alzheimer's disease and related dementias; as well as the psychiatric effects of medical conditions. Treatment approaches may include psychotherapy and/or pharmacotherapy.


Dr. Kaster maintains a busy private office practice in addition to regularly visiting nursing homes, assisted living facilities and retirement communities.


Dr. Kaster lectures extensively on issues pertaining to geriatric mental health including Alzheimer's disease.


He accepts Medicare and most commercial insurances.


Dr. Kaster specializes in providing psychiatric evaluations and consultation to elder law attorneys. The evaluations include capacity, competency, and other medical legal issues affecting older adults.

bruce kaster, mD

Dr. Bruce Kaster is a board certified Geriatric Psychiatrist in practice for 15 years. His practice specializes only in the treatment of older adults.


Dr. Kaster has experience as a clinical psychiatrist, teacher and researcher. He has participated as a principle investigator in numerous Alzheimer's clinical studies.

Dr. Kaster received his BS from Tufts University and MD from Tel Aviv University. He completed a residency in adult psychiatry at Tufts New England Medical Center and fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at McLean Hospital. He is an instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.


He collaborates with both geriatric medical practices of Beth Israel Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
